Overview

Nor131/132 – Description

Easy to use

To measure, just press the START key!
Gain settings are not an issue because the instrument spans the whole 20–140 dB range in a single sweep. The auto-store function saves your measurement in the non-volatile memory when the measurement stops.

The Nor130 Series of SLMs provides the operator with an unobstructed view of the noise climate by utilizing the most recent digital technology. During the measurement, all necessary functions can be accessed instantly thanks to dedicated front panel keys for the main operations. It is not necessary to choose the necessary measurement function in advance of beginning the investigation. To switch between the A- and C-weighting networks, simply press the NETW key. To scroll through all of the measured functions, press the FUNC key.

Legible display with backlight
Every result is shown in clear detail on the high resolution backlit graphical display. The instantaneous SPL level and the numerical values of the chosen functions for both weighting networks are displayed in a bar graph on the graphical screen. In addition, the instrument status, date, and time are shown.

Pressing the TBL-key displays all of the results in a tabular format.

Quatro detector
The instrument’s Quatro detector can simultaneously detect the RMS- and Peak-levels from two weighting networks! Because of this, industrial hygiene specialists can use the Nor130 Series to get the LAeq, LCeq, LApeak, and LCpeak from a single measurement.

Large memory
The 5 MB internal memory may be used to store measurement results. This memory is a “flash” type, meaning that it can store data even in the absence of a power source.

Usually, all measured functions from as many as 10,000 individual measurements are stored in the memory. The memory can store 2,500 sets of results if both Option 1 (octave analysis) and Option 2 (statistical indices) are installed.

USB interface
The instrument can be controlled remotely thanks to its cutting-edge USB interface. Every feature can be adjusted, and every measurement’s outcome can be shown.

With a Windows Explorer environment, data downloading is accomplished in a few keystrokes using the Norsonic NorXfer software (separately ordered).

Occupational hygiene
For risk assessments of noise deafness in accordance with the EU Physical Agents (Noise) Directive, the Nor130 Series is perfect. It performs all necessary function measurements and displays the findings both during and following the measurement time. To determine the LEP, d, and peak action levels at each workstation, quick and easy measurements are made possible by the LAeq, t, and LCpeak values. When exceeding is found, the LCeq-LAeq value is available, enabling the specification of the hearing protector using the HML method. The instruments can be upgraded with 1/1- or 1/3-octave real-time frequency analysis (Option 1 and 4) for a more thorough analysis. The resulting frequency spectrum provides the data required to appropriately prescribe personal hearing protection and to specify noise control measures. It is available concurrently with the initial measurement.

Environmental noise assessments
The instrument will also provide the dB values in terms of the L5, L10, L50, L90, and other values needed to assess the impact of noise in the community by including the statistical LN function (option 2). Long-term noise monitoring is frequently necessary for these measurements. Repeated measurements can be made with the results automatically stored to enable these long-term measurements, while also maintaining the temporal data on the dispersion of the levels thanks to the clock-synchronized automatic storage facility in the Nor130 series. The Nor130 instruments will generate 288 measurements in a 24-hour period if, for example, 5 minutes are spent taking measurements on repeat store. The NorXfer software makes it simple to download these measurement files to a PC and merges them into a single Excel file that provides a summary of all the measured data collected during the course of a full day. Option 3 offers an even better solution by including the level vs. time option. This makes it possible to choose a more thorough analysis with a period resolution of 1 second. The profile’s periods are made up of LCpeak (or LZpeak), LAeq, and LAmax. The overall measurement result for the level vs time period is also provided. This is the same as a “normal” measurement made using a simple sound level meter. Therefore, in addition to the other parameters measured in the basic version, the user may also receive a high-resolution report for each period with LAeq, LAmax, and LCpeak, as well as an overall measurement report for the same parameters. Additionally, optional 8 statistical values and frequency analysis (1/1 or 1/3 octave band real-time analysis) are also available.

“Firecracker” noise measurement

When measuring firecracker noise, the Nor131 and Nor132 Sound Lever Meters with an appropriate pre-polarized microphone are excellent options. This kind of noise has very high peak levels, but it can be accurately measured up to 174dB (the meters can display levels to at least 180dB) with a suitable 1/4′′ microphone connected to the meter through the use of an adapter. Nor131/132 – Specifications

(Common for both models unless noted.)

The Nor130 series of SLM fulfill the following standards: IEC60651, IEC60804, IEC61672, IEC61260, ANSI S1.4, ANSI S1.11, and ANSI S1.43. The Nor131 instrument meets the Class1 requirements while the Nor132 instrument is to the Class 2 requirements.

Measured Parameters:
Simultaneous measurement of SPL, Leq, LMax, LMin, LE and LPeak (plus the Tmax5 for Germany only)

Time weighting functions:

Fast, Slow, or Impulse

Spectral weighting functions:

Simultaneously measurement of A and C or Z-weighting. Additionally, the 1/1 octave real-time filters covering all bands from 8 Hz to 16 kHz (option 1).

Statistical calculations (option 2):

7 fixed percentiles L1%, L5%, L10%, L50%, L90%, L95%, and L99%, plus one user defined value (f.ex. L0.1%). The statistical calculation is in real time also within each frequency band if the filter option 1 is installed.
